Welcome to Bratislava, Slovakia

The first picture is in the old town. This is executioners alley (where the executioner lived) right after you come through the tunnel. The second picture is the town center and the town hall is on the left - it is a red roofed building with a yellow tower. It was built in the 15th century and was hit by a cannonball by Napoleon's army when the city was attacked in 1809...it is still seen today. Also can be seen is St Martin's Cathedral - it was the coronation site for the former Hungarian Kings and Queens. On the top of the spire, is a gold replica of the crown of Hungary's first monarch, Szent Istvan. The coronation route is market in the pavement between the Old Town and the cathedral by a series of gold crowns. The last pictures are of the gardens at Bratislava Castle and Bratislava Castle. Bratislava Castle (Slovak: About this sound Bratislavský hrad (help·info), German: Pressburger Schloss, Hungarian: Pozsonyi Vár) is the main castle of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. The massive rectangular building with four corner towers stands on an isolated rocky hill of the Little Carpathians directly above the Danube river in the middle of Bratislava. Because of its size and location, it has been a dominant feature of the city for centuries. The statue is of King Svatopluk I at the Honorary Courtyard since 2010 The location provides excellent views of Bratislava, Austria and, in clear weather, parts of Hungary. Many legends are connected with the history of the castle.
