Danube River Cruise - return home!
Up at 2:30 for a 3:20 am departure to catch our flight. I thought we would grab a boxed breakfast but apparently our group (there was 6 of us on the first wave to airport) had breakfast at the usual white, table cloth, china laden table and grabbed buffet items. They were waiting on me so I grabbed some brochen, (bread) ham and cheese and made a sandwich and stuffed it in my already stuffed book bag. One very important lesson – pack less so you can buy more. I came packed to the hilt so I couldn’t buy too many things. I was carrying my wet swim suit tied to the book bag! We had to wait until 4 am until the airport opened and got boarding passes. Then onto security and to the gate and wait some more. Finally boarding time but when I got to the front I was told my ticket was not good. I don’t speak German very well - so I was in shock. Ticket no Good! how do I get home? I wandered here and there worried that we did not have the right gate or something. Finally I went back to the original gate and found someone that spoke a little English . He was firm but finally told 2 panicking women that he would get us on – we were bumped for the later flight . Damn we could have slept at least another hour! I got a text from the airline about this at 11a.m? LOL. Communication - another important thing in travel!
